Temporary Closure of the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiments’ Museum

Posted on 25th October 2023

The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiments’ Museum at The Keep in Bury St Edmunds will close at the end of the day on 25th October 2023 until Summer 2024 for refurbishment of the museum. During the closure, the museum will be redecorated and updates and improvements will be made to some of the displays and interpretation panels. Some of the collection will also be conserved.

Claire Wallace, the museum’s curator, said, “When we reopen we will be updating the museum with both chronological and thematic displays. Many of the favourite objects will remain on display, while others will be exhibited for the first time. We will be highlighting the major engagements from the Regiments’ history and will also be telling the stories of some individual officers and soldiers from the different military campaigns that have not been seen before.”

Regular updates on the progress of the refurbishment will be available through the museum websites and social media platforms.

Throughout the period of refurbishment, the smaller Suffolk Regiment exhibition at Moyse’s Hall in Bury St Edmunds town centre, and the Cambridgeshire Regiment display at Duxford will remain open.
