Come and discover Gainsborough’s House this summer. Visit our temporary exhibitions, including Maggi Hambling origins, rediscover the newly refurbished historic house, or bring the whole family along to ‘Tom’s Tuesdays’. We can’t wait for you to join us!
Phoebe Scott writes: “Tom’s Tuesdays are relaunching this summer, with offers of family-friendly, creative activities inspired by our amazing exhibitions and new galleries. Come along to explore a different themed activity every week, based on our current exhibitions by Maggi Hambling, Suzanne Cooper and 18th-century cartoonist, Henry Bunbury.”
“Why not get stuck in this summer with some creative fun; join us to paint, print, create, and make! Tom’s Tuesdays are drop-in sessions running every Tuesday of the summer holidays 10am–12pm and 1–3pm. No need to book, standard admission rates apply.”

“Can’t make it on a Tuesday? Gainsborough’s House is open 7 days a week and we have more to see now than ever.”
“Our brand-new art cart will be available throughout the summer holidays in our Landscape Studio providing hands-on creative activities for young artists. Our family activity bags can also be found on the art cart. These contain fun things to take with you to explore the house, galleries and garden with. Why not add to our community sketchbooks and share your creations with us using #GHArtyAdventures?”

“Our fantastic camera obscura will be in operation over the summer too. A predecessor to modern photography, come and discover how this centuries-old contraption works and even have a go at using it yourself. Experiment with the light and create your own focal views. Our camera obscura will be running on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the summer holidays and is bookable at reception on the day of your visit. £3 per person or £10 for families.”

“With plenty to see and do, we can’t wait for you to join us this summer!”
