The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the C140 Exhibition at The Hold in Ipswich. Running for two weeks, this exhibition promises to be a captivating journey through 140 years of business evolution within the county.
With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the C140 Project is an initiative commemorating the Chamber’s enduring legacy in fostering business growth within Suffolk. Through four key themes — Diversity, Trade and Infrastructure, History and Heritage, and The Future — the exhibition offers a compelling exploration of Suffolk’s vibrant business landscape.
One of the exhibition’s highlights, the “Celebrating Diversity” initiative, shines a spotlight on stories of diversity in the Suffolk economy, honouring the Chamber’s dynamic legacy in shaping the local business community. Visitors can expect to uncover the hidden heritage of the Suffolk business community, and delve into rich narratives and engaging displays that showcase the Chamber’s pivotal role in Suffolk’s economic development.
Several Suffolk museums were involved with the exhibition’s development and supplied images from their collections. For instance, Felixstowe Museum shared photos of showing the building of the Port of Felixstowe and Ipswich Maritime Trust contributed photos of the town’s docks.
In addition to the in-person exhibition, the C140 Project offers a comprehensive online experience through a dedicated C140 website, with an interactive and dynamic timeline experience which can be accessed here.
