The Lettering Arts Trust

The Lettering Arts Trust is a charity that champions Britain’s rich heritage in the lettering arts. The Lettering Arts Centre is an online gallery for hand carved artworks.

The gallery and shop at Snape Maltings closed in June 2022. However the office continues to operate for commissions, training programmes, online shop, and exhibitions and events around the country.

Artworks from the Trust’s National Collection are on display at six locations around the country. More artworks are on display within temporary exhibitions. Please see their events section for details of what is on where.

The Lettering Arts Trust fund apprenticeships, hold workshops, host talks, sell fine works, and curate exhibitions. They also help the public to commission a lettered artwork for memorial, commemoration, house or garden, from their register of the finest letter carvers across the country.

Their education programme of apprenticeships, journeyman schemes and bursaries ensures that letter carving skills are passed on to tomorrow’s artists.
