Ickworth House

A Georgian Italianate mansion in an idyllic English landscape

Home » Museums » Ickworth House

Let your imagination run riot as you stroll in one of England’s finest Italianate gardens and explore the intriguing Stumpery.

Ickworth house with its classical Rotunda, East and West Wings forms the centrepiece of the Ickworth estate. It reflects its former owners, the Hervey Family’s tenacious spirit and has been preserved by the custodianship and influence of unconventional men and women over successive generations.

Go wild and amble or ramble for miles and enjoy the beautiful woodland walks, family trails and cycle routes or children’s play area.  Explore acres of space, woodland, wildlife and a stunning architectural oddity with a story to match. See how one eccentric man’s passion for art, parties and Italy led to the creation of this remarkable house and its collection of paintings, portraits, furniture and treasures.

Tours available and groups welcome – please contact us before you visit on 01284 735270.

For additional information about admission, opening hours, access, facilities and learning opportunities, please visit the museum website.
