Dan Clarke, Heritage Officer at Moyse’s Hall talks about the new exhibition coming to the museum called Moments.
Moyse’s Hall is looking to start 2021 with a few positive stories. We’ve extended our ever-popular Sci-fi displays until 20th January by public request, any excuse to keep the screen-used Gremlin a little longer! But it’s February that is really exciting for the Heritage team of West Suffolk. Mid-feb, through to the end of May, Moyse’s will be unveiling its exhibition: ‘Moments’. Working with London-based art specialists, Brandler Galleries, Moyse’s will display original works by Banksy, Pure Evil, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Connor Brothers, NHS angel Artist Rachel List and many more. A couple of the artists, including Rachel List, will be creating a new piece on the walls of Moyse’s Hall’s Undercroft, the free entry reception area of the museum, to create a new and unique landmark for the town. For more information contact Dan or Lance, via AfSM if you don’t have our direct contact details.

The exhibition will see the service work with the college and university to find West Suffolk’s great artistic talents; including the chance for one lucky young artist to be commissioned to create a piece. In all the displays will include 90+ pieces of modern art.
Moments is perfectly placed in juxtaposition with our historical summer exhibitions that will follow: Mary Beale’s fine art and our town’s celebrations of 1000 years since Cnut founded the Abbey of St Edmund, the latter will include an exhibition on the Artisan and Pilgrimage of our Abbey. The Abbey exhibition will display artefacts from Suffolk, East Anglian and National collections. Exciting times all round.
Throughout ‘Lockdown 2’ – Moyse’s Hall once again committed to one post every weekday on Facebook. We wish all our colleagues well across Suffolk during these tricky times.
