Walks: All Things Nautical

When: August 6, 2025 to August 27, 2025 Time: 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm Venue: Walks: All Things Nautical Address: Cost: £5 (children under 12 go free) Suitable for: All ages Event category: Walk/Outdoors

A series of walks accompanying the Anchors Away: Suffolk and The Sea exhibition. Next on 6 August is The Waterfront. Not just machinery, fertiliser and grain but booze too! The Cobbolds were closely involved in many of the town’s industries which will be explored on this walk, along with some of the usual activities related to the dock. From the very beginnings of Ipswich, the River Orwell has been our connection to the wider world. Take a gentle stroll around The Waterfront on 14 August and learn about the town’s maritime heritage. Take a walk on 27 August to see how The Waterfront has changed over the years, and to talk about some famous sailors connected with Ipswich. All walks begin at The Hold in Ipswich.
