Railway May Open Day
Blythburgh Station on the former Southwold Railway closed in 1929 but now much of what was there has been rebuilt and trains operating again. Free to enter with free light refreshments at the adjacent Village Hall where film shows, model railway displays, sales stands are available before viewing the train operating at the Station with its period setting now including the rebuilt Odams Shed.
This year, after a 97 year gap, a passenger train will operate using our rebuilt coach and a 1930s battery electric locomotive powered by solar energy. Viewing is free but for £5 you can ride the short distance we currently operate with a souvenir ticket to testify to your unique experience.
Model steam train displays also at the station with guided tours of the station and talks about the restoration by our volunteers.
