People & Place Exhibition – Celebrating 200 years of Aldeburgh’s Lifeboats
This year 2024, marks the 200th anniversary of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). There has been a lifeboat at Aldeburgh since 1851 when it was relocated from Sizewell where a lifeboat had been in place since 1826. As a fitting tribute, Aldeburgh Museum’s fourth ‘People and Place’ Christmas exhibition celebrates 200 Years of Aldeburgh’s Lifeboats.
On display will be photographs and paintings of our lifeboats from the 19th Century to the present day from the Museum’s collection with additional images provided by the RNLI.
Held in the Courtyard Gallery Aldeburgh, the exhibition is FREE and will run from Saturday 28th December until Thursday 2nd January every day 10.30am to 3.30pm. Come along and discover the link between Aldeburgh and the Dresden Diamond.
There will also be the opportunity to purchase a photobook of images on display.
