Observations: The Mary Beale Collection

When: October 23, 2021 to January 30, 2021 Time: 10.00am to 5.00pm Venue: Moyse’s Hall Museum Address: Cornhill Bury St Edmunds Suffolk IP33 1DX Cost: Adults £5, Children £3, Concessions £4.50 Suitable for: All ages

For the first time, West Suffolk Heritage Service is celebrating its collection of Mary Beale portraits – one of the largest of any public institution in the country.

This exhibition will be the first time Moyse’s Hall celebrates en masse this collection with over 25 of Mary’s original portraits of the great and good (or questionable) of 17th Century England.

Born in 1633 in the West Suffolk village of Barrow, Mary Beale would go on to become one of the 17th Century’s most prolific female portrait artists.

This exhibition explores a unique collection of paintings produced by a successful professional female artist in an Arts Industry household during one of England’s most turbulent centuries.

Advanced booking is preferred but not essential – https://www.whatsonwestsuffolk.co.uk/whats-on/details.cfm?id=649347 or call 01284 758000
