“New Beginnings” exhibition – celebrating the talent of a new generation of lettering artists and letter carvers

When: September 18, 2020 to November 15, 2020 Time: 11:00 am to 05:00 pm Venue: The Lettering Arts Trust Address: Snape, Saxmundham IP17 1SP, UK Cost: free Suitable for: all ages

‘New Beginnings’ shines a spotlight on a younger generation of lettering artists and letter carvers who demonstrate not only their skills in the precious, endangered craft of letter cutting, but also reflect contemporary influences on lettering design and material manipulation.

The 23 selected artists represent contemporary practice. Some, but not all, have had formal training in fine art, masonry and specialist letter carving.

New Beginnings pulls together various threads to show how the craft of lettering and letter carving is moving forward.

All proceeds from the exhibition, commissions and sales of lettered goods are invested in training via formal apprenticeships and journeymen bursaries to ensure the survival of a precious craft.
