When: March 4, 2023 Time: 10:00am to 12:30pm Venue: Suffolk Archives Address: The Hold, Fore Street, Ipswich, UK Cost: £25 Suitable for: 12+ Event category: Craft and Making

Visible Mending Workshop with We Wear The Trousers.

Join Suffolk Archives for this practical, creative workshop inspired by materials in their collections. The workshop will cover simple and effective techniques to visibly mend holes in knitted or woven garments. Bring a garment from home to mend or produce a decorative patch to take home.

During the workshop you will look at a variety of historical and contemporary mending practices, explore the effect that clothes rationing had on fashion and dress, and consider what relevance a ‘make do and mend’ mindset has for us today. The workshop is suitable for beginners with all materials and equipment provided.

This event is at Suffolk Archives in Bury St Edmunds at 77 Raingate Street.

Tickets £25, please book in advance here.
