Martin Adeney, who is widely known in Southwold, was a news correspondent for The Guardian and the BBC for over twenty years. Between 2019-23 he was the Chair of the Friends of Highgate Cemetery during which time it launched a conservation project and piloted a private bill through Parliament to allow it to continue burials by reclaiming old graves. His new book – Grave Concerns – is a diary of the two years it took, the unexpected challenges along the way, and some reflections about life in the cemetery.
