Easter Steam-Up
Two day Easter Steam-Up April 17th and 18th
The first big weekend of the 2022 season at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, affectionately known as ‘The Middy’, Suffolk’s only standard gauge preserved railway, is the Easter Steam-Up on Sunday April 17th and Monday April 18th.
The Easter Weekend emphasis will be on entertainment for families with children. The railway and museum facilities will be open with steam train rides, museum, visits to the Restoration Shed, shop and café, plus Easter Bunny hunts with prizes and quizzes for younger visitors. The duty locomotive will be the 115-year-old Cockerill vertical boilered steam tram engine backed up by ‘Shreddie’, the Heritage Railway Association-award-winning Fowler diesel mechanical 0-4-0, the original Shredded Wheat Company shunter.
A visit to Brockford Station presents a fascinating picture of what life was like on and around a rural railway during the early part of the last century. The MSLR style has been recreated with original buildings and a unique collection of locomotives and rolling stock. It’s a fascinating day out for families and railfans alike.
Tickets are available from the website or at the ticket office on the day. Once you have your ticket you can have as many rides as you like on any of the passenger carrying trains at no extra charge.
