Saturday August 24th, A Pilgrims Feast. 6-8pm
An early evening feast of medieval inspired fare, with folk music by the Dunwich Drifters and a Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales reading. Join us for a cosy supper with mead and wine. Tickets for sale at £15 per person.
Saturday September 21st, Blake Morrison and the Hosepipe Band. 7pm
Blake’s Shingle Street collaboration with the band celebrated Suffolk landscapes and seascapes. Now he has widened his scope to encompass themes of elation, regret, nostalgia, sensuality and domestic mishap. There’s a sense of passing time or ‘timefulness’ – of fading memories, missed chances and the coming of age – but his touch remains light throughout. This year’s performance will feature poems from Blake’s new pamphlet Never the right time. Readings will be accompanied by music composed and played by members of the Hosepipe Band.
We are grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their support and offer players a free Dunwich Museum pencil if they can show us proof of purchase.
