Dunwich Museum is open daily from 11.30am – 4.30pm. Visit us and learn about the city lost to the sea. Our special exhibition this year is on Pilgrimage and features some unique pilgrim badges.
We are delighted that the National Lottery Heritage Fund have awarded us a grant to support the charity through the next phase of the Dunwich Community Heritage Hub project. We are very grateful to Lottery players for enabling this wonderful opportunity.
There are several special events taking place at the museum this year:
Wednesday 29 May, 12pm-4pm – Spring Family Activity
Drop in and join us for some fun spring themed activities in the Dunwich Reading Room. We will also have an interactive erosion activity on the Reading Room field, depending on the weather.
Saturday 6 July – Dunwich Summer Sale
Local crafts, collectables, and bric-a-brac tables welcome. If you want to be one of our crafts folk and vendors, please let us know by contacting Sarah Peel at chronicles@dunwichmuseum.org.uk
Friday 2 August to Monday 5 August – Art Show
Artists are invited to submit art works for consideration for our Summer Art Show which will run at the start of August in the Reading Room. Works can be for sale or simply for exhibition, and small fee will be charged per painting and commission will be taken on sales. Please submit sample jpgs of your work to Sarah Peel at chronicles@dunwichmuseum.org.uk by 30 June.
The museum is looking for volunteers. We have a few projects in the upcoming year with a variety of different volunteering opportunities. If you have an interest in local heritage, enjoy sharing the stories of our history, caring for collections, or if you enjoy a bit of admin, drop us a line at admin@dunwichmuseum.org.uk or call us at 01728 648796.
