Save the date – 13th May 2024; Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich
Join us for a wonderful opportunity to find out more about how dance can animate museums and heritage sites in memorable ways, opening up stories and collections, and creating new possibilities for connecting with communities.
The Imagination Museum is a national network for dance and heritage sector professionals interested in working together. Through online and in-person events and resources, we share our own experience of dancing in museums and promote opportunities for future collaboration across the country.
Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, we will expand and develop the network’s activity over the coming year. We have chosen Suffolk for our first event as it is an area with a long track record supporting excellent dance projects happening in museums, including the original ‘dancing tour guide’ piece that inspired The Imagination Museum network, which was created for Ipswich Museum in 2013.
Our first network event at Christchurch Mansion will introduce you to some of the projects that have already happened with dance in the area, share our plans for the future, and provide space for you to meet local partners and artists and expand your own practice and professional network. Booking information and a more detailed agenda will be shared closer to the time.
We look forward to seeing you in May!
The Imagination Museum is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and in Suffolk it is being delivered with Colchester and Ipswich Museums and DanceEast, with additional consultation with the Association for Suffolk Museums and MarketPlace CPP.
