This Heritage Open Day, Bawdsey Radar Museum will be throwing open the doors for potential volunteers to visit the museum, which is located in the original wartime radar transmitter block, to learn more about getting involved with the museum.
On Sunday 17 September, entry to the museum will be free, with members of the volunteer team available for a chat about all things to do with Bawdsey Radar Museum.
Volunteering isn’t always about having lots of knowledge about radar, it’s also about wanting to make a difference, meet new people, share your passion, and give something back.
Our volunteer Sue had this to say:
‘I enjoy my volunteer days as the museum is such a pleasant place and talking to the visitors is a highlight. It is lovely to see and hear the children having a good time. Visitors and volunteers are well looked after. I feel valued as a volunteer, making new friends, learning new stories/facts and our manager is a great support to everybody’.
There are plenty of roles to choose between, from transcribing documents and caring for our collections to helping out in the museum or maintaining our lovely site! Come along this Heritage Open Day to find out more about what Bawdsey Radar Museum can offer you and how you can get involved with sharing the story of radar at RAF Bawdsey and beyond!
Find out details such as location and opening times on the Bawdsey Radar Museum website.
