If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at a museum there are lots of opportunities to get involved. You could help with meeting and greeting visitors, documenting and caring for collections, publicising events and exhibitions, or with family-friendly and schools activities. Museums are also often looking to recruit people with different background skills to serve as Trustees.

Volunteering in your local museum can be mutually rewarding, providing a chance to share interests and skills, work with the public, enjoy companionship or gain work experience. Anyone working or volunteering in Suffolk museums also has access to a free training programme through SHARE Museums East. A small number of museums may also be able to provide opportunities for people who need support to volunteer.

Please contact the museum directly if you are interested in becoming involved in any of these ways. Or, for more information get in touch with the Association’s Secretary: lyn.gash@suffolk.gov.uk
